NHS Complaints

At Solihull Action through Advocacy (SAtA), we understand that it can feel difficult or confusing to raise a concern about NHS care or treatment.

Our NHS Complaints Advocacy Service is here to help people in Solihull speak up when something goes wrong. We are independent, confidential and free we are not part of the NHS.

You have the right to make a complaint if you are unhappy with the care or treatment you or someone you know has received from any NHS service, such as:

  • Hospitals

  • GPs and dentists

  • Community health or mental health services

  • NHS-funded care homes or private treatment

Start with Our Self-Help Guide

Before you contact us, we encourage you to use our NHS Complaints Self-Help Guide.

This easy-to-use guide takes you step by step through the complaints process and helps you write and send your own complaint. It includes:

  • Simple guidance on how to start your complaint

  • Letter templates to help you put your thoughts into words

  • Examples and tips for explaining what happened

  • Advice on what to expect next once your complaint is sent

Using the self-help guide can help you feel confident and in control and many people find they can manage their complaint independently with this support.

If you try the guide and still need help or would like someone to support you through the process you can contact SAtA for advocacy support.
