Learning Disability Council (LDC)

Solihull Action through Advocacy

What is the Learning Disability Council?

The Learning Disability Council is a group of people with learning disabilities who come together to have their voices heard.

The Council is part of Solihull Action through Advocacy. We work to make sure people with learning disabilities are listened to and involved in decisions that affect their lives.

We believe everyone has the right to speak up and be treated with respect.

What Does the Council Do?

The Learning Disability Council:

  • Talks about issues that matter to people with learning disabilities

  • Shares views and experiences

  • Works with local services to improve support

  • Helps make Solihull a better place for everyone

  • Supports people to have a strong voice

Members meet regularly to discuss important topics and help create positive change.

Why Is the Council Important?

People with learning disabilities are the experts in their own lives.

The Council makes sure:

  • People are listened to

  • Services understand what works well and what needs to improve

  • Decisions are not made without including people with learning disabilities

We work together to make a difference.
